One of the things that concerned me when shopping for our trailer was that the salesman walking us around used the same key to open every Forest River trailer we went into. Apparently they are all master-keyed. That did not sit well with me.
I did a little research and did not find a master key online, but I did find this:
This is every key for the lock type that Lola had for less than $150.00. That key opens the outside storage bins, the “safe” and both door locks.
One of my priorities after finding that ring of keys, was to replace the lock. I had already replaced the locks for the outside storage, because they didn’t work very well, even when new. Now it is time to replace the door lock.
We chose the CARMTEK – RV Keyless Entry Door Lock V5.0 to replace it. I am not a big fan of membrane keypads, but the manufacturer includes a spare membrane, so they understand the weaknesses of them as well.
Nothing is completely secure, but I will sleep better knowing that you can’t just go out on the internet and easily buy ALL of the keys for this one.
